Go stargazing in London and surrounding aread with an experienced astronomer from Dark Sky Telescope Hire as your guide. Our 2-hour private stargazing experience nights run from various open air locations in London including Hampstead Heath, Epping Forest and Hatfield Forest, and in the Surrey Hills from Ranmore Common near Dorking. Discover the night sky from a city location. We'll use a big portable telescope to whisk you off on a journey across the cosmos in search of stunning star systems that could harbour alien life, ancient star clusters hidden to the naked eye, and the light from distant galaxies millions of light years away. If the moon is in the sky you'll get a high-definition view of craters, ancient lava fields and even mountain chains on the moon. Planets too can be explored if they are visible in the sky on the date you choose.

LONDON 2-HOUR STARGAZING EXPERIENCE

Experience an amazing journey across the night sky with our 2-hour London and Surrey Hills stargazing experience. We use a big telescope to take you out beyond the lights of the city to distant stars thousands of light years away. Our experienced astronomer will use a laser pointer to draw out stars and constellations visible in the night sky from London and the Surrey Hills. You'll then discover what you can see in a big telescope. Highlights include stunning star systems where alien life could exist, dazzling star clusters shining huge distances away from earth, red supergiants on the verge of collapsing into supernovae, and even distant galaxies far beyond our own. If the moon and / or planets are visible at the time then we'll visit them too with the telescope.

If you've ever wanted to explore the night sky from London with an experienced astronomer as your guide our 2-hour stargazing experience gives you that opportunity. It's the perfect gift for anyone with an interest in astronomy, or with an interest in the night sky in general. The London stargazing experience is suitable for individuals, couples, families and small groups. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Voucher recipient may have up to 15 friends and family members share in the experience at no extra charge.

When can the voucher be used?

We run stargazing experiences in London all year round, except for 24 -31 December, and subject to our astronomer's availability. The voucher recipient can book for a week night or weekend night with any start time, so long as it is dark! If you want to see a planet through a telescope then that can be arranged! Planets move against the background stars from our viewpoint here on earth, so just let us know what planet you'd like to see and we'll tell you the best time of year to view it.

What if it is raining or cloudy?

Naturally cloud and rain is always a threat. When using the voucher to book the stargazing experience we recommend that you choose 2 or 3 nights initially on which you’d be happy for us to run the experience. If it is cloudy / raining on all selected nights then we’ll simply roll the experience forward to an alternative date that works. We can keep rolling the experience forward until we are able to run the stargazing for you.
