Experience the night sky like never before from Moel Famau in NE Wales. An experienced astronomer will meet you at the stargazing location we use close to the main car park at Bwlch Pen Barras for a private stargazing tour of the night sky from North East Wales. Included is a laser-guided tour od the stars and constellations we can see with the naked eye, and also a journey out across the universe with one of our large telescopes. Along the way we'll visit star systems, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies beyond our own. Our astronomer will provide a fascinating insight into each view thorugh the telescope.

1-Hour Wales Stargazing Experience from Moel Famau near Mold

Take a voyage out into a starry sky from Moel Famau with our 1-hour private stargazing experience. This is an exclusive stargazing experience run for individuals, families and small groups, which means no waiting around in a queue for access to the telescope as you would do in a large group activity. You'll have one-to-one time with our experienced astronomer through your one hour session with views of the night sky through a large (250mm or 300mm aperture) telescope.

The stargazing site is easy to access from the main car park at Moel Famau (no walking up the mountain!), and is just 45 minutes drive from Chester making it an easy stargazing location to reach from Cheshire, the Wirral, Liverpool and Merseyside. 

Your stargazing night includes a laser-guided tour of the stars and constellations that we can see from Moel Famau and some super views of the night sky through a telescope. You'll see stars many times bigger than our own sun set out in distant sparkling star clusters; remnants from long-dead stars and galaxies far beyond our own where supermassive black holes lurk. Planets in our own solar system are on the menu too - when visible - as will be the Moon or the Milky Way depending on the date and time of your stargazing visit.

When can the voucher be used? 

Anytime you want in the next two years or longer! We run stargazing experiences from Wales all year round except over the Festive period. You'll need to book. Please consider booking 4 - 6 months in advance for the best selection of dates. You're welcome to choose a weeknight or weekend night, although weekend nights are more popular and so are less readily available. 

What if it is raining or cloudy? 

Naturally cloud and rain is always a threat. When booking the stargazing experience we recommend that you choose  2 or 3 nights initially on which you’d be happy for us to run the experience for you. If it is cloudy / raining on all selected nights then we’ll simply roll the experience forward to an alternative date that works. We can keep rolling the experience forward until we are able to run the stargazing for you.
