PEAK DISTRICT 1-HOUR STARGAZING EXPERIENCE

Our 1-hour stargazing experience in the Peak District National Park is a fantastic opportunity for anyone with an interest in astronomy to get up close and personal with the night sky. We run the stargazing experience as a private stargazing event just for the voucher recipient plus any family and friends they wish to bring along. Our experienced astronomer will ensure that your stargazing experience is a fun and entertaining adventure across the night sky, and with the use of one of our big telescopes you'll discover that there is so much more to the night sky than just the stars that we can see with the naked eye!

The 1-hour Peak District stargazing experience takes place at a choice of location in the Peak District National Park. Stargazing spots include Hathersage west of Sheffield, Parsley Hay between Ashbourne and Buxton, and Upper Hulme near Leek. The evening includes a laser-guided tour of the stars and constellations that we can see with the naked eye, plus views through a telescope of star systems, star clusters, nebulae and galaxies far beyond our own.

The 1-hour Peak District Stargazing Experience is suitable for individuals, couples, families and small groups. If you've ever wanted to go stargazing with an experienced astronomer this is your opportunity! All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Voucher recipient may have up to 15 friends and family members share in the experience at no extra charge.

When can the voucher be used?

We run stargazing experiences from the Peak District all year round. During the summer months we just start later (10:30pm or 11pm) to ensure the sky is dark enough, so essentially you can use the voucher to book your 1-hour stargazing experience on a night to suit. We run on week nights and weekend nights  except 24-31 December and subject to our astronomer’s availability.

What if it is raining or cloudy?

Naturally cloud and rain is always a threat. When using the voucher to book the stargazing experience we recommend that you choose 2 or 3 nights initially on which you’d be happy for us to run the experience. If it is cloudy / raining on all selected nights then we’ll simply roll the experience forward to an alternative date that works. We can keep rolling the experience forward until we are able to run the stargazing for you.
