SHROPSHIRE HILLS (LONG MYND) 1-HOUR STARGAZING EXPERIENCE

Stargaze from the Long Mynd in the Shropshire Hills with an experienced astronomer as your guide. We'll guide you around the night sky to visit stars and constellations we can see from the Long Mynd. Our astronomer will then take you on an adventure out across the cosmos with one of our large telescopes. Along the way you'll visit enigmatic star systems that could harbour alien life; ancient star clusters thousands of light years away, and the light from galaxies far beyond our Milky Way.

On a moonless night we'll be able to view the Milky Way itself stretched out across the heavens. If you're in luck we might also be able to get close up and personal with a planet or two! If you've never seen Saturn you'll get to see the rings around the planet and some of Saturn's moons. Jupiter too is a fantastic view in a telescope. You'll get to see the dark bands across the planet and Jupiter's four bright Galiliean moons.

Looking for an unusual gift for a loved one? Our 1-hour Shropshire stargazing experience is a fun way to discover the night sky with a knowledgeable astronomer as your personal guide. The experience is suitable for individuals, couples, families and small groups. It’s great for children too from age 7 upwards. All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by an adult. Voucher recipient may have up to 15 friends and family members share in the experience at no extra charge.

When can the voucher be used?

Your 1-hour Shropshire stargazing experience gift voucher can be used anytime of the year. We run stargazing nights on week nights and weekend nights, except 24-31 December, and subject to our astronomer's availability. If you want to view a planet let us know and we'll tell you the best times of the year to stargaze for planets.

What if it is raining or cloudy?

Naturally cloud and rain is always a threat. When booking the stargazing experience we recommend that you choose  2 or 3 nights initially on which you’d be happy for us to run the experience for you. If it is cloudy / raining on all selected nights then we’ll simply roll the experience forward to an alternative date that works. We can keep rolling the experience forward until we are able to run the stargazing for you.
